But that doesn’t mean it’s time to throw in the towel, stop paying attention, and accept things as they are.
I have over 30 articles started – started but nowhere near completed because of the tangled web they all lead me down or the lack of passion I feel for the few that are not politically tied. I. Am. Overwhelmed. So here is an attempt to get something out, anything out.
While the war on our own people rages on, and trans people are being stripped of their rights in Kansas, while women’s socialization and psychology is being permanently altered due to the Epstein files and the response to said files (or lack thereof), the start of a potential world war is being casually disregarded because we are already so used to the hellscape we call America. This isn’t normal, besties.
We are being bombarded with mountains of news everyday, much of it conflicting, even from “reputable” news sources. And we were not set up for success in any sense – we were not educated about our history properly or correctly, we were not taught media literacy, and we were socialized to be individualistic, and therefore easy to control and less likely to unite and fight. Every facet of this big ball of nightmare fuel just unravels into more indigestible, inconceivable shit. Without understanding one thing, you can’t understand the next – everything is connected. More importantly, without understanding the deep and true history of our country, and all of the countries we are involved with, it is impossible to see clearly what is happening – it makes things feel blown out of proportion, it makes things feel like conspiracy theories, it makes things seem like lies. But ya gotta take the steps to understanding.
There are now over a dozen countries involved in the war, I’ve seen 17 in some places, I’ve also seen 20. We have an extremely untrustworthy administration – a president making wild claims in regards to actions being taken in the war and when questioned saying it’s because he just “doesn’t know enough about it” is insane my dudes. Nothing is as it seems, everything is more complicated, more complex, and has many more implications than whatever is being reported anywhere. This is a war with a complex history that did not start in February, and did not start this year. If all you’re aware of is the fact that we are at war with Iran (on Israel’s behalf), Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, we bombed a school in Iran (on accident, possibly because of using AI with out-of-date mapping info, more here, trump is an idiot), and gas prices are going to go up (because the Strait of Hormuz is cut off) – and as of a few hours ago that Iran is planning a drone strike in California from an unknown vessel in an unknown area off the west coast….. I implore you to do more research, stop burying your head in the sand. If you aren’t mad, you aren’t going to make change, if you don’t make change, this shit is just going to get worse or repeat in another 20 years. You do have power. We are being convinced that we don’t – we are being convinced that protesting, that signing petitions and propositions, that posting online, and boycotting doesn’t work – but it does. We are changing on individual levels, which in a capitalistic, individualistic society, is how we must begin – it’s not going to feel monumental, which is why it can feel useless. But every tiny success, is success nonetheless. We are flipping seats in the Senate, we are deprograming the years of brainwashing in MAGA supporters, we are filing lawsuits (over and over and will continue to until we win). Their power is not unchecked, they just want us to think that so that we remain docile, complacent, quiet.
Below is a tiny bit more information on some of the things happening. I try to get my news/info from everywhere, no one single source. And when I see a headline or claim, I verify it tenfold – google that shit, make sure it’s being repeatedly reported from left leaning sources, right leaning sources, and other countries when possible. Getting information from social media is okay, as long as you verify it. Hearing one person say something that sounds realistic and then repeating it as if it’s a fact, is not okay. Be informed and be responsible.
US-Israel War with Iran
Up to date info today (3/11/26). This page has the same info, both have bits about the oil facilities that Israel bombed, causing toxic black clouds and rain – but more in depth about the health and environmental implications can be found here.
Info about how the Strait of Hormuz is being cut off.
Casualties in the war overall (live tracker) – the actual tracker is getting it’s info from Iran. Our news sources are reporting the same numbers. I personally do not believe the US is reporting accurate numbers simply because the administration constantly lies. The other countries could be doing the same.
Gas price increases – it’s not just going to affect you at the pump.
It is also important and good practice to listen to voices of the people who are actively being affected, people in Iran, in Palestine, family members of these people. Also keep in mind that one person doesn’t speak for an entire country, religion, or culture – make sure to find multiple people, their opinions and experiences will likely be conflicting, which is why it’s so important to take in information from as many sources as possible. Be well rounded.
ICE
A timeline of ICE in Minnesota – hint, the people do have the power. Actions speak louder than words, and DHS and the administration can scream as loud as they want that operation whatever the fuck was “successful” and they arrested “more than 4,000 criminal illegal aliens”, they did not, or it would appear the numbers do not come anywhere near there. However, we can’t ever really tell, because we can’t trust the administration and every news outlet reports differently (this is the only one with “verified” info showing anywhere near the 4,000). Plus, many of the names they did actually release (only around 500), were people already arrested and in custody. So sending 3,000 ICE agents to Minnesota was, say it with me, an intimidation tactic. Yes, good job. And while there are fewer ICE agents there now, they are still terrorizing the cities, this has just fallen off the top of the headlines. But our push back works, and it’s being reflected in policy changes.
Epstein Files
The actual Epstein Files (which they’re now calling a library??… files=negative, criminal connotation, library=positive, comforting connotation… fuck off)
Some Basics – Including a timeline of Epstein’s infractions, some of his “employees”, and some high profile names in the files.
Incorrect redacting – associates, employees, aka the perpetrators and predators remained anonymous in the release of the files, however pictures, names, and sensitive information of the victims were released to the public, leaving them even more vulnerable than they already were.
Trump Files or lack there of – it’s really not hard to see the truth and the fact that people needed these files to be released in order to believe the voices of so many women is exactly why trump is president, why this went on for so long, and why the result of the (heavily redacted) files finally being released is… nothing.
I have so much to say on this topic, the structure of our society and the socialization that takes place in order for things like this to happen while people hardly bat an eye, but it is truly one of the most difficult things for me to sit with for any extended period of time.
And on that note, I do understand the legitimate mental health issues that arise and worsen during times like these, but I really encourage everybody to take some time to attempt to address the true root of those issues. Because I can almost guarantee for most people (myself included, as a person who struggles massively with multiple mental illnesses), many of the things that are the actual root of our issues, are also the root issues of our country. We as a country cannot build stable and healthy humans on an unstable and fundamentally broken foundation – and we as humans cannot fully address our personal issues that have been passed down for generations and will continue to be passed down, until we address and mend that foundation. We have responsibility as humans living on Earth, please stop acting like things don’t apply to you.
